2018 Nissan Armada Review: big, thirsty and realization through the roof.

Even on the huge benchmarks of the Nissan Armada SUV, the Nissan Armada throws a huge following. The two thousand and seventeen year redesign, which hasn’t really changed for two thousand and eighteen, has more than doubled sales of the big guy. If you’re doing a lot of driving, towing a boat or taking long trips – for example, kids in sports – it’s not a bad trip. The Armada is also one of the less expensive full-size SUVs, starting at forty-seven thousand bucks. At the same time, the Armada’s cool platinum reserve with a wide-angle rearview camera mirror can push the cost up to sixty-six thousand bucks.

Four exterior cameras provide a spatial view of the area around the Armada. No one makes the ambient look better or offers it on more vehicles than Nissan.

The two thousand eighteen Armada adds standard NissanConnect services via SiriusXM (you still have to subscribe to satellite radio for you), an 8-inch multi-touch screen, HD Radio, and SiriusXM Travel Link with a 3-year trial. The interface is slightly outdated.

As befits a big car, the buttons are decently huge on the steering wheel and in the center of the stack.

At the Chicago Auto Show in two thousand eighteen, Nissan showed the Armada Snow Patrol concept car. We found a wad hike in the snow. Winter tires would have helped, too.

This is the 2nd generation Armada, based on the Nissan Patrol SUV sold in other parts of the world. What’s more, it has a lot in common with the more expensive Infiniti QX80, so that the Armada’s upper trim stripes force you to feel like you’re on an Infiniti. The new Armada is two hundred and nine inches longer versus two hundred and eight inches, and fuel economy has been improved to thirteen miles per gallon, nineteen miles per gallon highway, sixteen miles per gallon combined, and one less mile per gallon for the vedo.

All Armadas are perfectly equipped. The base SV Armada has a 13-dynamic bose audio, four USB ports, navigation and three rows of seats. Mid-grade SL gets a 4-camera monitor with large space (Intelligent Around View Monitor in Nissan terminology), power tailgate, power from third-row seats, remote start, leather seats and 20-inch wheels (from eighteen inches on SV). Platinum gets a rearview camera mirror or intelligent rearview mirror (I-RVM), 5 USB sockets, adaptive cruise control, lane departure support (lane departure warning with intelligent lane departure interference), blind spot detection, rear screen with dual comfort screen and moonroof. For those who want a car that sounds like a credit card, the Platinum Reserve package holds three thousand dollars in premium leather seats, open-pore wood trim, gloss black rims and a Platinum Reserve symbol to remind you where the funds went. This is less of a safety dilemma than something you need to be aware of and work on.

Between the big-sounding exterior cameras and I-RVM, also a backup camera that is standard on all cars, Armada Platinum is as good as it gets at helping the driver in traffic and easing into tight parking spots.

The biggest flaw on the technology side was the center stack and dashboard. They feel dated. Multi-information screen, small screen between speedometer and tachometer, monochrome and does not indicate enough. Adaptive crossover controls are not complete.
