Rompers/ Baby Rompers in the US are just a few of just a handful of players still out who are making the most of their growing-up years to get by.

In 2011-12, the number of players out of the UK reached 7,800,000 in all but the country of England. By January 2013 that number had risen to 11,927,000, which is down from 12,800,000 in 2012-13.

What’s more, we know that for every youth talent on the pitch, there are two permanent, lifelong members of the family and one permanent, temporary non-playing adult player with an older brother or sister in the same school.

Our system is under threat, we are seeing the drop in playing days and there is a lack of quality youth talent at all levels of the game, all over the country.

“To say that it’s about to end is not a very optimistic statement about the future and it needs a lot of discussion about whether there is a place for young people out there to come and play football.”
